I've a 'group' for warp and 'group' for weft, each of these then have a MASK to simulate the 45º cross weave you see in tartan. Why go to all this trouble when I could just use an image? good point, however, building it this way I can animate individual threads and adapt their timings, plus I can then apply filters, behaviors, make particles and replicate items to completely change the output. I looked at a few of my script fonts before compiling and editing individual letters to give the above. I drew a few circles, gave them a bright outline colour so I could see easily where I had to edit the path points (you can also use outline mode), add/remove to make cleaner/simpler paths resulting in smoother lines. As I'll be printing this on t-shirts quite small I wanted it simple, so I've opted for the 1 wrinkle cut into the swoosh rather than 3. Less is more, hope you agree. The horizontal lines of varying thickness are part of the overall brand identity for the restaurant, featured on the bar menu designs and décor.<br /><br />I've applied random motion & vortex behaviours to animate the lines produced by a replicator in Motion 3. The camera sweeps and pans through the replicator to rest with the logo. I've then split the layers, giving them more 'Z' space between them and resized to correct for the wide angle effect caused by the camera.<br /><br />As the camera pans back through the layers you get a depth of field from items moving independently. The outer border motifs are on a separate 2D layer which are unaffected by the camera movement. A number of the items are cloned layers, so I've only had to edit a few motion masks then move the timings around of each clone to give more of a mixed up drawing effect. Gradient blends, line pass filters and colour treatments produce the final result.<br /><br />Notes: Storyboard, design, edit and production using Apple Motion 3, Photoshop & Illustrator. Each city is based on the conference room names featured at the hotel groups properties. <br /><br />Created in Apple's Motion 3, each piece adapts geometric shapes and colours of each locations country flag. Changing properties of particle filters, replicators and effects within Motion 3 using values contained within the city's GPS co-ordinates.<br /><br />For example, Geneva Switzerland, the white '+' and red box of the flag emanate for the centre 0,0 and move/attracted to the co-ordinates of Geneva in relation to the canvas/video wall dimensions.<br /><br />Notes: Storyboard, design, edit and production using Apple Motion 3, Photoshop & Illustrator. I've created it through a series of scanned images, converted to B&W, composited as one PSD photoshop file which I've imported to Motion 3 as layers and 3D space. I've then split the layers, giving them more 'Z' space between them, resized to correct for the wide angle effect caused by the camera.<div><br /></div><div>Now when the camera pans back through the layers you get a depth of field of items moving independently. The outer boarder motifs are on a separate 2D layer which are unaffected by the camera movement. Quite a few of the items are cloned layers, so I've only had to edit a few motion masks then move the timings around of each clone to give more of a mixed up drawing effect with minimal effort. This place was awesome! I thought Vail was great, perhaps we just got really lucky with the weather as it dumped pretty much everyday. Waist deep powder!<br /><br />Fernie's a smaller resort but with excellent ski&board areas - plenty of hidden gems to find! it's a really friendly town, it doesn't feel like your usual ski resort. They need to update their rusting chair lifts, but apart from that I'd highly recommend this place.
